Inaugural New West DocFest
October 21 & 22, 2011
Douglas College
700 Royal Avenue, New Westminster
The New West DocFest is a unique initiative for New Westminster, proudly co-hosted by the New Westminster Environmental Partners, the Green Ideas Network and Douglas College. With a vision for a better future and sustainable solutions, join us for this inaugural documentary festival -- a two-day community event that will bring you film, music, art and poetry.
On Friday night at 6:00pm, enjoy the opening reception with cake, special guests including the Honourable Mayor Wright, along with presenter Matt Thorne from the Pembina Institute who will be on hand to speak about the feature film, “Burning Water”.
The next day brings more intriguing and compelling screenings, including a benefit screening of “65 Red Roses”, film shorts created by Pull Focus film students, a slam poet, and exemplary panelists for each post-film discussion period.
Located across the hall from the beautiful Laura C. Muir Performing Arts Theatre, attendees can have a peek at the amazing art on display, hosted by the Douglas College Urban Ecology Institute.
With overwhelming support from the community, civic leaders, arts council, businesses, advocates for green communities, and the generosity from our many sponsors, we look forward to seeing you there. Visit www.newwestdocfest.ca for more details.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Student/Senior $5 / Adult $7 / Festival Pass $20.
