Burnaby, BC – Go green and save money for your business is the theme of a free business and networking seminar hosted by the Edmonds Business and Community Association.

Sustainability Makes Sense will offer presentations and personal stories about why it makes good sense to adopt green strategies in business. “We're encouraging business people to think seriously about environmental sustainability in our community,” says EBCA president Joyce Rostron. “This seminar is designed to focus attention on productivity goals and cost savings to be derived from sustainable business practices.”

Presenters from Byrne Creek Streamkeepers Society, BC Hydro Power Smart and David Suzuki Foundation will offer some eye opening tips on how business can effectively capture cost savings by employing eco-friendly strategies. Following the presentations, the audience will have an opportunity to ask specific questions related to their business or workplace.

In addition to the main presenters, a few local business people will be on hand to share their testimonials about going green. “We want these sustainability heroes to inspire and validate that their approach to sustainability has been positive for their businesses,” Rostron says.

The free event takes place Tuesday, November 16th starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room at Tommy Douglas Library, 7311 Kingsway in Burnaby. Free parking is available.

Seating is limited and preregistration before November 12th is advised. Anyone wanting to attend can call the library at 604-522-3971 or register by email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

The Edmonds Business and Community Association is celebrating 10 years of community service in Edmonds Town Centre. It began as an ad hoc group of volunteers who took it upon themselves to hold neighbourhood clean-up events and promote local business in the area.

Now a registered non-profit society with a growing membership, EBCA sponsors several community events including the the Spirit of Edmonds Summer Festival and Spring and Fall Clean Sweeps.
